The
GPS Mounting
Here
is your excuse to buy more stuff, and save money adding more stuff!
The GPS mounting bracket is fabricated from
the aluminum plate you removed after purchasing the billet VL
Emblem to replace it. There is plenty of material, so you can be creative
with the design. I put a slight bend in
mine to allow for another strip on Velcro to be used. If you used the correct
length bolts on the risers. You will not
need to add anything for vibration. It is taken care of by the factory isolators
in the upper triple tree. Plus the Velcro does provide a little dampening
effect. The handle bar part of the mount is from the original handle bar mounts
left over after installing the risers. I
used a 1/2"x13/4" bolt with a 1/2" chrome
acorn nut on top.
Let me add that the GPS is a Garmin, GPSIII. The data
screen is setup on mine to show voltage and time. Price a good quality clock
and volt meter for your bike that has internal lighting, and the ability to use
the bikes power. See, the GPS is a bargain after all. I will not go
into anymore details, cause the damn thing does it all. But here is the
link to the Manuel
on Garmin's site.
A Big THANKS to Eric Boehm
of the MIG group for suggesting the GPS! He has a great site with good
information on the GPS also.
See, nothing to it and a good excuse to get more stuff!
Ride
safe!
